Skirmish: Through abacinated eyes
07/09/11 || revenant
“If there is any justice in this fucken world, Skirmish won’t stay unsigned for long.” These are K’s words from September 2010 with Skirmish’s first coverage on this site. Here we are, about a year later, and lo and fucken behold, there is justice in the world. Skirmish are signed, justice is served and the metal world benefits by getting a nasty slab of thrashy goodness in the form of Skirmish’s debut album. I can’t say, however, that I am as excited about this as K was for their demo though. Sure you get some razor sharp riffs barbed with catchiness, some well placed melody that stirs memories of early The Haunted, and some damn fine growled vocals, but the quality that Skirmish deliver through the first half of the album is just not held for the duration of the release. At their best (as we see in the first 3 tracks) these guys are as good as any out there. If they can find a bit more consistency, then expect them to be a major force in the years to come.
7,5/10: Justice is served here, now Justice do us all a favour a slip over to Norway, there’s a cunt over there who we’d all like to see punished.
After going thru that crap, you most likely wanna read something way more interesting. You do, admit it.
